AREA around čikola

Surrounding of Čikola river canyon is very rich in natural, historical and cultural segments. The nearest city to the climbing area is the city Drniš where two rivers flow in the area: Krka and Čikola, and it is also surrounded by three mountains: Promina (1148m), Moseć (838m) and Svilaja (1508m). In the very canyon you can get a Ferrata guide to walk you through it, take a Zip line ride, just walk through the dry river or enjoy canoeing when the river is running. In less then an hour by car you can take a walk through National Park Krka, on local mountains – Promina, visit highest peak of Croatia Dinara (1834m) or visit main city of Šibenik-Knin County – Šibenik – where you can see two UNESCO heritage sites, walk on the seaside, and enjoy many restaurants, bars and shops.

NP KRKA

Krka is a national park of Croatia that stretches along the Krka river. It received the status of a national park in January 1985. It includes its source at the foot of the Dinara mountain near the town of Knin, all the way to its mouth just a few kilometers northeast of the town of Šibenik, flowing through a 75km long canyon. On the Krka river we come across 7 travertine waterfalls and several medieval forts. The lower course of the Čikola River with the Ključica fortress also belongs to the national park.

FERRATA

The via ferrata was arranged at approximately the same time as the climbing sector of the summer. The track has a total length of 7.1 km, and the weight of the track has a factor of B, B/C. A walk along this well-maintained path opens up beautiful and rich vistas towards the river and the Čikola river canyon. The starting point is from the parking lot for the climbing area and zipline, and the return is on the plateau above the canyon itself. The time required to master it is 2:50 min

ZIPLINE

A special experience of the Čikola canyon from a bird's eye view, which is up to 120m deep in some places, is made possible by specially installed cables across the canyon. The total length of the zipline is 1.4 km, which is made up of 3 wires 250m, 500m and 650m long.

MOUNTAIN PROMINA

The mountain is located north of the town of Drniš. There is a mountain lodge on the mountain. It is 1148m high, and several pedestrian and "off-road" paths lead to it. The mountain abounds in pine forest, water sources and mineral wealth. The mountain dominates the area, surrounded by karst plains, standing alone like an island, not connected to the Dinaric mountain range.

MOUNTAIN DINARA

Dinara is the highest mountain in the Republic of Croatia, 1831m. It became a nature park in 2021, making it the youngest nature park in Croatia. The mountain abounds in rich flora and fauna, many of which are endemic.

CITY OF ŠIBENIK

One of the oldest Croatian native towns, it was mentioned for the first time on Christmas in 1066. Until the plague epidemic in the middle of the 17th century, it was the largest city on the entire eastern coast of the Adriatic. Today it represents the capital and cultural, educational and economic center of Šibenik-Knin County. Cathedral of St. Jakov is the most significant architectural achievement of the 15th and 16th centuries in Croatia, and as such together with the fortress of St. Nicholas, which is located at the entrance to the Šibenik Canal of St. Ante, found on the list of UNESCO's world cultural heritage. The city is rich in history, beautiful beaches, and in 2018 "the Guardian" declared it the best city for living by the sea in southern Europe.

CITY OF DRNIŠ

The city was created as a fortress during the invasion of the Turks. Rich in historical monuments, where the most important Croatian sculptor of the 20th century, Ivan Meštrović, came from. The city is also known for its cured meat industry

CITY OF KNIN

One of the oldest cities in Croatia and Europe. It was mentioned for the first time in 7 BC. Its historical significance is also shown by the list of its conquerors: Romans, Ostrogoths, Hungarians, Templars, Turks, Venetians, French, Austrians, Italians and Germans. During the last war, Knin became a symbol of liberation and the declaration of the free Republic of Croatia.

NP KORNATI

"Stone labyrinth of 89 islands, islets and rocks - that's Kornati", "Stone pearls of the Mediterranean".
The national park is located west of Šibenik and can be accessed from the island of Murter. In 1980, it received the status of a national park, and of its total area of ​​220m2, only 1/4 is land, while the remaining part is a marine ecosystem. The land part of the park is completely privately owned.
Not many people know that one of the original "big production" DWS movies was filmed in Croatia, in the Kornati National Park. The movie features Chris Sharma – one of the guys who originated the DWS hype, Steve McLure – British strong man and 12 other strong boys and girls. Surprisingly, it somehow also features Jack Osborne, son of Ozzie Osborne. And yes, he is climbing in the movie as well.

NATURE PARK VRANSKO LAKE

A lake by the sea, a lake with a Mediterranean climate. The largest natural lake in Mediterranean Croatia. It represents a refuge for endangered birds and migratory birds. It is a geographical phenomenon in which the water surface of the lake is above sea level, and the bottom is below it. The narrow karst ridge is a natural barrier between the lake and the sea, but due to its porosity, the sea enters the lake waters and thus makes it salty. The lake is surrounded by 40 km of panoramic bike paths, and the wealth of fish in the lake is a paradise for sport fishermen

SOURCE OF THE RIVER CETINA

Cetina is the longest Dalmatian river, its 105 km long journey begins at the foot of the Dinara mountain. The source is very reminiscent of an eye, which is why it is called “the most beautiful eye in Dalmatia”. The source has been explored to a depth of 115m, but the actual depth is unknown. Whoever decides to visit this place will be delighted by the turquoise color of the fairy-tale lake. Swimming is strictly prohibited. The surrounding towns and villages take their water from the spring of the same name.
